Ugandan goalkeeper Simon Tamale has been unveiled at Rwandan kingpins Rayon Sports Football Club.

The former Maroons fc custodian has penned a one-year employment contract that will keep him in Rwanda at least until July 2024.

“We are delighted to confirm the signing of Simon Tamale. The goalkeeper will be a boost for the goalkeeping position in the coming period,” the Rwandan club said on Thursday.

Tamale had a purely superb campaign in the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League last season, managing 13 clean sheets and seven Man of the Match awards.

He is currently a nominee in two categories for the Pilsner UPL awards, including the Player of the Season and Goalkeeper of the Season awards, slated for July 6, 2023.

For the Player of the Season, Tamale will battle with Vipers SC’s Milton Karisa and SC Villa’s Charles Bbaale.

Meanwhile, he will hope to fend off opposition from Soltilo Bright Stars, Hassan Matovu, and URA FC’s Nafian Alionzi for the goalkeeper of the year.

At Rayon Sport, Tamale will have the chance of featuring in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.
