Head coach Jackson Ogwang believes the upcoming tour to Namibia is the perfect moment to test Uganda’s rising stars as the team builds toward a defining year.
The Uganda national cricket team will face Namibia’s Eagles from March 16–26 in a five-match series, two T20s and three 50-over games. But for Ogwang, this trip is about more than results.
“We thought we could give them a chance,” Ogwang said about the three young batsmen drafted into the squad.
“They put up their hands in the league, and there’s no better way to see how strong they are internationally than taking them to a series like this. They give us more options in the batting department.”
Uganda are preparing for the final round of Challenge League B in Tanzania in August as they chase a place in the 2027 50-Over World Cup qualifiers.
They currently top Group B, but with Italy and Hong Kong close behind, there is no room for mistakes. Only the top two sides will advance.
