Cricket fans were treated to another thrilling weekend of Uganda Women’s T20 League action as Olila CC, Jinja SS, and Tornado Bee stamped their authority with dominant double victories in their respective encounters on Matchday 2.

  • Olila CC outclasses struggling Africa CC at Lugogo Oval

Olila CC put on a clinical display at Lugogo Oval, registering two identical 88-run victories over an out-of-sorts Africa Cricket Club (Africa CC).

In the morning game, Olila posted 119/9, thanks to a gritty 48 from Malisa Ariokot and a valuable unbeaten 18 from Perpetua Acio.

Africa CC’s Jackline Nampaamu dazzled with the ball, claiming a record 6/14, but received little support.

Africa CC’s batting woes were glaring as they stumbled to 31/8 in their 20 overs. Immaculate Nandera (3 wickets) and Lorna Anyait (2 wickets) suffocated the batters, with only Maria Kagoya Nyende (10) reaching double digits.

Nampaamu’s six-wicket haul rightly earned her the Player of the Match, despite her team’s heavy loss.

The afternoon fixture followed a similar script. Olila, batting first, compiled 126/7, propelled by Joan Ilora’s unbeaten 38 and 35 from Immaculate Nandera.

Extras once again proved costly for Africa CC, contributing 21 runs. In reply, Africa CC managed just 38/9, with five batters dismissed for ducks.

Devine Nyamer Gabriella led the bowling charge with 3 wickets, securing her the Player of the Match honor as Olila completed a perfect double.

  • Jinja SS Clinch the Jinja Derby with Twin Triumphs

Over at the Jinja SS Oval, the hosts delighted home fans with back-to-back wins over arch-rivals JACC.

In the morning clash, Jinja SS posted a commanding 133/4 after being asked to bat. Hope Sheila Mbeiza anchored the innings with an unbeaten 38, while quick contributions from Rashida Tikabula (25) and Suzan Kakai (17) boosted the total.

Chasing, JACC faltered and limped to 65/9, with Tahia Nassuuna starring with the ball, claiming 3/9 and earning the Player of the Match award.

In the afternoon game, Jinja SS once again set the tone with 112/5, built around Elizabeth Achieng’s 29 and Ruth Mary Tumwebaze’s 21.

JACC’s chase never gained momentum, ending at 72/7 as Sheila Namagoba bowled an exceptional spell (2 wickets, 8 runs) to clinch Player of the Match and ensure another convincing Jinja SS win.

  • Tornado Bee dominates Tornado CC in Entebbe Showdowns

The scenic Entebbe Oval witnessed a day to forget for Tornado CC as Tornado Bee completed a comprehensive double.

In the morning encounter, Tornado CC collapsed to 47 all out, with only Blessing Apio (11) showing resistance. Rita Nyangendo and Alice Namuganza took two wickets each to set the tone.

Chasing a modest target, Rashida Kulsum (13) guided Tornado Bee to 48/3 in 12 overs, picking up the Player of the Match accolade.

In the afternoon rematch, Tornado Bee batted first and posted 75/5, led by Hope Wanichan (19) and Ann Nyapendi (15). Tornado CC’s struggles continued as they were bowled out for 47 again.

Patricia Lydia Agwanga ran through the lineup with 4/8, securing her side’s second victory and the Player of the Match award.
