The USSSA Aggrey Zone organising Chairman, Moses Onyango, has urged Schools from his zone to avoid adding non-bonified students on their teams while representing the Zone at Wakiso District in USSSA Football National qualifiers.

While addressing the team as the Zone competition climaxing on 1st April 2025 at Lufuka Playground in Lufuka along Entebbe Road, Onyango congratulated teams and warned them about an upgrade in inspection at the District level and at Nationals.

“I congratulate the three boys and two girls teams that have qualified for district, though we registered a decline in the number of teams but the competition has risen. To qualified teams, I  tell you that at District, the inspection is going to be much tighter than here.

“Therefore, maintain clean teams, don’t add non-bonified students and if you have those who passed the inspection standards here, drop them cause they can walk off with it again at the district.”

In boys’ football, Standard High Zana, Ndejje Aiden College and Zana Mixed qualified, repeating last year’s record, though this time Standard High Zana defeated Zone defending champion Ndejje Aiden College to qualify as number one while Zana Mixed qualified in third slot.

Through Benon Lutaaya’s sensational strike taken from the center to loop off the goalkeeper who was way off the life early in the half, STAHIZA won Ndejje Aiden College 1-0.

In the competitive final, both sides got multiple chances with Lutaaya having another headed finish but called off due to offside while  Aiden failed to score due to STAHIZA goalkeeper Kevin, who made more than five fantastic saves.

In girls’ football, St Noa girls Zana defended the Zone trophy by coming from behind to defeat STAHIZA 2-1 with Ociego Lillian scoring for the losing side in the first half before Sylivia Kabene and Sumayiya Nalumu scored in a high-tension final.

All qualified teams shall play in the district Qualifiers against other Wakiso District zones representatives, including giants like St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende, Light High School Sseguku, Kisozi Seed,  Buddo SS, Andy Mwesigwa, Kyadondo SS and Greenlight Islamic next week.

The 2025 Wakiso District Football championship, which has five slots to the USSSA National Championship, shall take place in Nsangi Zone starting on Monday, 8th April, with the final to decide the District Champion to be played at Wakisha Resource Center.
