East Africa’s football stars Denis Onyango (Uganda), Victor Wanyama (Kenya), and Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania) have unveiled the new trophy for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), just days before kickoff.

CAF selected the three legends for the symbolic launch, marking the first time CHAN will be co-hosted by three countries; Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The unveiling, held by Lake Victoria, highlighted the tournament’s “PAMOJA” theme, which means “together” in Swahili. The new trophy reflects unity, pride, and the spirit of African football.

The action starts Saturday, August 2, with Tanzania facing Burkina Faso in Dar es Salaam. Uganda kicks off its campaign on Monday, August 4, against Algeria at the renovated Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Beyond football, PAMOJA 2024 sets the stage for the region’s joint hosting of AFCON 2027, with CHAN now more than a tournament.
