In a significant development for Ugandan basketball, Sommet Basketball Club has officially taken over Our Savior’s slot in the National Basketball League (NBL).
This transition was confirmed through an official statement released by Sommet on Wednesday, March 5, marking a new chapter for the club as it steps into the top-tier league.
“We are thrilled to announce that after successful discussions with Our Savior Club,” the statement read.

“Sommet Basketball Club will be stepping in to take their place in the National Basketball League starting this upcoming season.”
The move follows Sommet’s elimination by Uganda Martyrs University Flames in the 2024 FUBA Division One quarterfinals.
Despite this setback, the club has secured its place in the NBL through this acquisition, taking over from Our Saviour, which had been up for sale.
With the deal successfully sealed, Our Savior’s time in the NBL has officially come to an end.
Sommet now faces the challenge of transitioning from Division Two to the highest level of Ugandan basketball.
Competing in the National Basketball League requires a strengthened roster and an enhanced technical team to meet the league’s competitive standards.
The club is expected to make strategic adjustments to ensure its competitiveness in the upcoming season.
In their statement, Sommet Basketball Club emphasized that this moves in line with their vision and commitment to growth.
By stepping into the NBL, the club aims to establish itself among the elite teams in the country and contribute to the continued development of basketball in Uganda.
