Moments after securing Uganda Premier League safety, Soltilo Bright Stars‘ head coach Paul Kiwanuka praised his side’s focus, determination and resilience in a tough season.
The Mwererwe side beat Onduparaka FC 1-3 at the Ababet Greenlight Stadium on Saturday, to confirm they will be a part of the 2022/23 campaign.
Bright Stars conceded first through Norman Ojik‘s goal before strikes from Yasin Mugume, Ibrahim Kasinde and Nelson Senkatuka completed the comeback.
“The boys played a spirited game, were resilient, focused and determined as well. The boys executed the game to plan perfectly,” Kiwanuka spoke to the media after the victory.
“My target was to save the team from relegation which we have done against a tough opponent in a difficult stadium. I am honestly so happy with today’s results.”
The tactician went on to single out the day’s captain Emmanuel Loki for his impressive display on the scorching sunny evening.
“He (Loki) has been incredible in recent trainings and that’s what I looked at to give him the armband today, and, he did not disappoint.”
Bright Stars occupy 12th on the 16 team log with 33 points. They will take on Mbarara City FC in the last game of the season on Saturday, with plans of hitting the top half.
On the other hand, Onduparaka are tenth with 34 points and visit UPDF FC at Bombo Military Barracks Grounds on Saturday.
