Prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season, the Pilsner FUFA Super 8 preseason tournament will be the curtain-raiser, after years without being held.

The competition gets to be played after fours years, having gone into sabbatical from the 2019 edition.

The aforementioned developments were revealed by the country’s football governing body, FUFA in an email sent to the eight clubs.

In the past, the competition involved six top teams from the previous campaign plus the top two from the FUFA Big League.

However, this time round, it will only have the top eight Uganda Premier League sides from last campaign.

“The FUFA Super 8 is a preseason tournament played by the top eight teams in the concluded season,” a letter sent to the eight teams reads.

“The cup has not been organized for the last few editions; however, this year’s edition is scheduled from 4th-10th August, 2023.”

KCCA FC and Vipers, who won the title in 2018 and 2019, respectively are the previous winners.

Teams to form part of the year’s tournament include Vipers, KCCA, SC Villa, Arua Hill SC, URA FC, Maroons FC, BUL FC and Wakiso Giants FC.
