The spotlight shifts to Kawuku this weekend (Saturday August 23 – Sunday August 24) as the two-day 2025 Plascon Entebbe 7s kicks off, the third stop of the National Sevens Series, ushering in a fresh chapter for Ugandan rugby.
The tournament, hosted at the Sai-Pali Institute of Technology and Management, will make history as the venue stages its first-ever sporting event on a newly commissioned playing surface.

Festivities begin on Friday, August 22, 2025, with the Legacy Program, where over 300 pupils from the Bwerenga community will be introduced to rugby for the first time, a move aimed at inspiring the next generation of players and strengthening the sport’s culture.
In team news, the Victoria Sharks, who had earned an invitation to the Central Sevens Series, have withdrawn from this leg.
Their place in Pool B will be taken by the Kisubi Pacers, keeping the competition fierce as all other invitational sides remain in contention.
Organizers have praised Plascon Uganda for its unwavering support, crediting the sponsor for transforming the Entebbe 7s into one of the most anticipated stops on the rugby calendar.
The Plascon Entebbe 7s comes with added stakes after two thrilling rounds in the National Sevens Circuit.
In the men’s category, Walukuba Barbarians won the Coronation 7s, while the Buffaloes claimed victory in the Gulu 7s.
In the women’s category, the Thunderbirds triumphed in the Coronation 7s, with the Avengers taking the Gulu crown.
