Kansai Plascon Uganda and the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) have entered a partnership to reward the best-performing sports journalists.
The three-year deal in line with their Twaake campaign worth 300 million Uganda shillings was unveiled during the quarterly USPA meetings today.
According to the Plascon Managing Director, Santosh Gumte, it’s the right time to appreciate sports journalists for the good job done.
“We are grateful to partner with you and appreciate your effort because we do share the objective of promoting sports growth in this country.”
“The journalist that will capture the best ‘Twaake’ moment of the month featuring excited and engaged fans will earn UGX 250,000,” Santosh added.
The package also has the Journalist of the Month award, whose main purpose is to enhance the quality of sports journalism.
This will attract a cash prize of UGX. 500,000 to the winner who will be chosen by the USPA technical team.
The Twaake Moment of the Month is aligned to the ongoing Plascon sports campaign dubbed ‘Twaake.’
USPA president Moses Lubega on behalf of his fraternity praised Plascon’s initiative, which is the first of its kind.
“We are grateful that a brand of Plascon’s stature has sought to associate with USPA. This means it has appreciated what we are doing and would like to push us further.”
“But in turn, we also pledge to support the brand in its endeavours. We need to prove that a partnership with USPA is worth the while,” said Lubega.
The sponsorship will also cater for the annual USPA road safety campaign among other administrative operations.
