“A CHANCE TO GIVE BACK TO MY ROOTS” was the theme as Rugby Cranes Star Phillip Wokorach under his PW15 Foundation organized a Tag Rugby Tournament at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds on 31st December 2024.

At no cost, the PW15 Tag Rugby tournament Fifth Edition attracted several Juniors under the ages of 14 and 10 with Coach Eddy Mapesa’s Kakira Cubs fielding two (2) teams (U10 and U14).

Rams Academy, Black Emeralds, Bugembe, Kyadondo, Podoresso, Naguru Homeboys and Acholi Quarters Rugby Academy led by its Captain Achola Charity were the other sides.

With all the hard work which consisted of toddler sprints, release of sweat accompanied with smiles brought by the fun Podoreso Rugby Centre with a dominant performance, managed to take home both category titles.

The Kireka side managed to win all their U14 games despite some struggles in the U10 where they hammered debutants Black Emeralds 16-02 in a mini-derby.

However, in this edition, some talents like Linda Nakanjako and Denis Mpalanyi of Black Emeralds among others who were exceptional on the day took flight with the hope that they would be nurtured in the right way.

With a tagline Back To My Roots, Phillip Wokorach, without hesitation – having gone through the same path, will always know that such Annual Age grade tournaments pave way for youth empowerment through rugby, ballooning hope into those from different communities.

This time round without gender discrimination it adds an equality ingredient to empowering both boys and girls to play rugby with an intention to shape a future where everyone has a chance to shine.
