Police FC came from behind twice to defeat Blacks Power 3-2 at Kavumba Recreation ground, opening up a five-point lead at the top of the FUFA Big League standings.
Isaac Ogwang’s brace and a goal from Daniel Jakony were enough to secure three points for Police, while Daniel Otim and Paul Musamali were on target for Blacks Power.
The victory extends Police’s lead over second-placed Blacks Power to five points.
Police coach Simon Peter Mugerwa was impressed with his team’s character in coming from behind to win the match.
“It was a sweet victory today against our rivals who are currently second on the table,” Mugerwa said.
“We had to win to keep the distance. We started slow but at least the boys remained focused until the final minute of the game. We want to see how we can keep the momentum to win our next away game.”

“The turning point was when we changed the approach. We shifted to three defenders and midfielders plus having five players in attack. It was risky but it worked.”
Ogwang has been in fine form for Police, scoring eight goals in the league so far, and Mugerwa praised his striker’s efforts.
“He is on fire,” Mugerwa said. “He has scored six goals in two games. He has eight goals now and leads the scoring chart. He wants to score more and he has a target of being the top scorer with 20 goals. He has to work more to achieve it.”
