Police FC coach Simon Peter Mugerwa was impressed with his side’s comeback against Young Elephhttps://twitter.com/YoungElephantFCants in their FUFA Big League opener on Monday.
The Cops came from a goal down to defeat Young Elephants 2-1 at Kavumba Recreation Centre, thanks to goals from Denis Kalanzi and Brian James Obedi in the second half.
Jimmy Oola had given Young Elephants a first-half lead after capitalizing on a lapse from Police captain Joseph Sentume.
Mugerwa was pleased with his side’s response after going behind at halftime.
“It’s a good win and gives us morale as we start our journey in the FUFA Big League,” he said.
“We were only surprised that we were 1-0 down at halftime. But they managed to adjust to the technical changes we made. We also decided to be aggressive with or without the ball and it helped to score two goals.”
“We just need to continue improving in all departments. How we behave with or without the ball, will help us to win more games.”
“The bottom line is that we won our first game of the season which gives us a better direction of how we can compete.”
Police missed out on making it to the Uganda Premier League on the final day of the FUFA Big League last season.
However, looking at the signings they have made, they are aiming to be champions of the league this time around.
