Uganda’s National Pool Cranes team is brimming with confidence as they head to South Africa for the Ultimate African Pool Championship 2025 in Mpumalanga.
After weeks of focused training at Adi’s Spot in Kireka, the team was officially flagged off on Friday morning at the National Council of Sports (NCS) offices in Lugogo.
The moment marked the end of intense preparations and the beginning of a mission to make a mark on the continental stage.
For three days, the Cranes went through a rigorous training program designed to mirror the competitive conditions in South Africa.
Coaches emphasized tactical sharpness, cue precision, and mental strength, all crucial for success at the top level.
The 16-player squad, evenly split between men and women, will fly out on Sunday aboard Uganda Airlines.
The women’s team features Zaimat Nabafu, Rashida Mutesi, Ritah Nimusiima, Jacinta Kajubi, Amina Faith Nganda, Juliet Namuhanga, Rukia Naiga, and Marion Kisakye.

The men’s lineup includes Simon Lubuulwa, Ian Kazibwe, Ibra Kayanja, Ibra Sejjemba, Ceaser Chandiga, Azali Lukomwa, Joseph Kasozi and Rashid Wagaba.

Senior player Joseph Kasozi expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and hunger for success.
“We’ve trained hard and everyone is in great shape,” he said.
“Ugandans should believe in us, we’re going for gold this time.”
For the Pool Cranes, this championship is a shot at redemption and a chance to show Uganda’s growing strength in the sport.
