With just hours to go before their must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guinea, the Uganda Cranes are leaving nothing to chance as they finalize preparations at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

After a tough 3-1 defeat to Mozambique, the team has been working tirelessly to correct their mistakes and restore confidence ahead of Tuesday’s fixture. Speaking during his pre-match press conference, head coach Paul Put expressed optimism about his team’s response.

“The response from the team has been fantastic. After the Mozambique game, I thought it would take time to rebuild their confidence, but they have shown great character,” Put said.

The Cranes have intensified their training sessions focusing on defensive structure, set-piece defending, and attacking efficiency, all of which were major concerns in their previous outing.

Playing at home in Namboole for the first time in years, Uganda will look to capitalize on the support of their home crowd to fuel their performance. Put believes this will be a crucial factor.

“We are at home, and that gives us an extra boost. The players understand the importance of this match, and we are prepared to give everything on the pitch,” he added.

Despite Uganda’s setback against Mozambique, their World Cup qualification dream remains alive but victory against a well-organized Guinea side is crucial. The West Africans have shown impressive form in the campaign, making Tuesday’s clash a high-stakes encounter for the Cranes.

With kickoff set for 7 PM, the stage is set for Uganda to prove their resilience, fight for redemption, and reignite their qualification hopes in front of the Ugandan fans.
