Put rallies fans to fill Namboole against Somalia on Monday

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has called on fans to show up on Monday, September 8, as the Uganda Cranes continue chasing its possible 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification against Somalia.

As Uganda Cranes thumped Mozambique 4-0 at Mandela National Stadium, the man in charge of the team couldn’t hold his disappointment on playing in front of half the capacity of Namboole.

“I am really disappointed in the fans for not coming today, but Monday is not far; I believe they will come to full capacity.” Put said

“Last time i failed to qualify by just two minutes, and this time I believe I can make it with Uganda Cranes, and Monday remains important in the attempt.”

With three games remaining in the group stage, they lie on 12 points, behind Group G leader Algeria on 18 points after 7 games.

Despite playing in front of a number of unoccupied seats, the Cranes were hungry to display their fantasy football, creating multiple chances as they registered their biggest win in their history of FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

On Monday, September 8, Uganda shall take on Somalia at Mandela National Stadium Namboole as they are aiming to be in the top four best runners-up in the group stage contests.

In the race, Uganda is 7th, behind Namibia, Senegal, Madagascar, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast, in chasing to advance to the second-round qualification, which will determine Africa’s representative at inter-confederations playoffs.
