The Uganda U20 Women’s Football National Team, the Queen Cranes, will play Mozambique in the return leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 4 PM at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda.
The Queen Cranes won the first leg 6-0 in Mozambique, with goals from captain Hadijah Nandago (2), Agnes Nabukenya (2), Margaret Kunihira, and Eva Nagayi.
Despite the big win in the first leg, Queen Cranes head coach Ayub Khalifah is still hungry for a convincing win at home.
“I always remind my girls to manage success and score whenever they get a chance because their objective is still to take this team to the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup,” Khalifah said.
“We believe the opponents have corrected their mistakes and are ready to give us a big test. I will make changes in the lineup that started in the first leg because we need to win this game with a big margin as well,” he concluded.
The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Mozambique will face either Senegal or Benin in the next qualifying stage in November this year.
Only four qualified teams from Africa will play at the finals of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, to be hosted by Colombia from September 5-22, 2024.
