Lifeguard Rams are 2023 Kigezi High Altitude 7s champions after defeating Rwanda’s 1000 Hills 27-07 in the final.
The main aim of the tournament was to raise Kabale and Kigezi as a region to an exceptional level as a sports tourism destination, hence the presence of the sport of rugby and invitation of Kampala-based Rams, Rwanda’s 1000 Hills, Lions – a Mbarara Select side, and a team from DR Congo.

“We started this event in 2018 as a local tournament, and by 2021 we had it as a national 7s circuit.”

“This year (2023), we are launching an international circuit, and we hope to maintain the standard where we will be inviting teams from Europe and across the world,” Rwakayanga noted.

The Rams, owing to their win, walked away with UGX 1M.
Day 1 of the Kigezi High Altitude 7s was for the age-grade department to showcase what they have on offer from schools, while the big boys played on day 2.
