For his outstanding performance in January 2026, Vipers SC Midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala, who scored 5 goals and provided an assist, was chosen over teammate Usama Arafat Kiiza and Forward Ambrose Kigozi.

Watambala netted against URA FC, Mbarara City, Police FC, and Buhimba United Saints, keeping his team Vipers Sports Club on top of the table and still unbeaten which guided him to an award received at Molecule Restaurant on Tuesday February 2.
Speaking on the milestone with an award designed by Jude Colour Solutions, Watambala said, “As we push the club to continue the title defense so that we deliver Okello’s medal in Tanzania, this award is another push. I appreciate my coaches, teammates, my management, and admins at the club. They are the reason for me to win this accolade, and I will keep pushing for more.”
Usama was nominated for his dominant play in all the games for Vipers SC in January while Ambrose Kigozi netted 4 goals for Entebbe UPPC FC scoring against URA FC, Express FC, UPDF FC, and KCCA FC.
In other sports disciplines, Jacob Kiplimo won the Athletics award for winning the 2026 World Cross Country held in Tallahasse Florida USA on 10th January. He beat out competition from female athletes Joy Chepteyok and Charity Cherop.
Real Star Sports Agency Chief Executive Officer Isaac Mukasa, spoke on the decision of handing Kiplimo a second award in just months, “We organize these awards for the best performers and when you see Kiplimo the people he beats and the way his hunger continues to rise after winning, he is a good example of the model we want.”
In Golf, Willy Deus Kitata was named the best Golfer in January, beating Ronald Rugumayo and Susan Knight. The 2014 Uganda Open Champion won the Sunshine Development Tour in Kenya at Thika Golf course where he scored 5 under with a total score of 208.
