Reason why URA–Entebbe UPPC Fixture was postponed ahead of Uganda Premier League return

Uganda Premier League returns on Tuesday, January 6, but Match Day 12 will begin with one notable change, the awaited URA FC versus Entebbe UPPC fixture has been postponed, not because of uncertainty but due to a packed schedule.

Coming off an emotionally draining AFCON break that ended in heartbreak for Uganda, attention was meant to shift fully back to domestic football.

However, the Uganda Premier League Secretariat confirmed that Match No. 95 will be played at a later date after URA FC requested an adjustment.

The tax collectors’ calendar was stretched by their recent involvement in the Mapinduzi Cup, which clashed with the league’s restart.

The UPL Secretariat approved the request in line with the FUFA Competitions January–February Programme, citing the need to manage overlapping commitments, safeguard player welfare and preserve competitive balance.

It is another reminder of the growing demands on top-flight Ugandan clubs, whose schedules now extend beyond local competitions.

The URA–Entebbe UPPC clash has been rescheduled to Sunday, January 18, 2026, with kickoff at 3:00 PM at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The venue change also allows for smoother logistics and broadcast planning as the season gathers pace again.

Importantly, no other fixtures are affected. The rest of Match Day 12 will go ahead as planned, ensuring a smooth return to league action.

On Tuesday, Buhimba United Saints host Maroons in Hoima, Police welcome KCCA in Kamwokya, and champions Vipers SC face Mbarara City under the Kitende lights.

The round will stretch into Wednesday and Thursday, culminating in the traditional Express versus SC Villa clash at Nakivubo.
