The Red Ball four-day cricket and all whites bowled off yesterday at the Jinja SS Cricket Oval in Jinja City.

Like in the first edition, only two teams; Itanda and Busowoko are competing.

This edition will see two games on a four-day format played, unlike the inaugural one that had three games.

The tournament will majorly feature youngsters from the region as Charles Waiswa, the sports director at East Enders Sports Hub explains.

“This format will help test the players’ mindset, physical fitness, and how to play the extended times,” the former Cricket Cranes player said.

“We expect much-improved cricket from the first edition and we call upon everyone to come support, enjoy and be part of the longer version of the game.”

Like earlier mentioned, the first match of this edition bowled off yesterday and it will end on Thursday.

Itanda won the toss and elected to bowl, and by the end of the first innings, Busoowoko had put 265 for 9.

Eddie Agaba

Eddie Agaba who plays for Ceylon Lions in the national league knocked 120 off 108 balls while Hasan Bagaga had 51.

This match resumes today at the same ground. The second match will get underway from May 22nd through to 26th.
