The 2024/25 season of the FUFA Women Super League has crowned its champions, Kampala Queens. Their title was sealed a week ago and not even a 2-1 defeat to Kawempe Muslim could dent their achievement.

But while the top spot is no longer up for grabs, the battle at the other end of the table continues to produce drama, tension and tales of resilience.

Among the season’s most inspiring turnarounds is that of Rines SS WFC, a side that had struggled throughout the second round of the league.

With only two wins in their previous games, Rines entered Saturday’s clash against already-relegated Wakiso Hill WFC needing at least a draw to survive the drop. But they did one better.

In a nervy, high-stakes encounter, Rines SS edged Wakiso Hill 3-2, securing their stay in the league with one game to spare and rising to a safer 25 points.

The win not only safeguarded their top-flight status but also completed a season double over Wakiso Hill, following their earlier 1-0 victory courtesy of a decisive strike from Phiona Arach.

Relief and jubilation echoed among the Rines SS camp a fitting end to a season marked by tenacity.

But as Rines SS breathed a sigh of relief, the storm of relegation still loomed over Olila High School and Tooro Queens, two sides whose fate now hinges on the league’s dramatic final day.

Olila High School, hailing from Soroti, earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Makerere University WFC on Saturday.

That single point nudged them two points above the relegation zone, a precarious position that leaves no room for error.

To guarantee safety, Olila must win their final game, where they’ll face Wakiso Hill, a team with little more than pride to play for. But pride can be a dangerous motivator, especially for a team looking to bow out of the league with dignity.

Tooro Queens, meanwhile, managed to hold Kampala Queens to a goalless draw, no small feat against the champions. But the point did little to ease their relegation fears.

To stay up, Tooro must beat Amus College and pray that Olila falters against Wakiso Hill. It’s a desperate situation, but not an impossible one.

Final day Fixtures will include,

  • Tooro Queens Vs Amus College -Buhinga
  • Rines SS WFC Vs Lady Doves – Kabaka Kyabaggu
  • Wakiso Hill Vs Olila H/S – Kitende
  • She Corporate Vs Kawempe Muslim – Kyabazinga Stadium – Jinja
  • Kawempe Muslim Vs She Maroons – Valley Grounds
  • Makerere University Vs Uganda Martyrs – Makerere
