NBL Record Champions City Oilers have improved their chances of making the BAL Elite 16 playoffs after grabbing their second win in as many games.
On Tuesday, the 9-time Uganda Champions came back from 29-41 down at halftime against Madagascar’s COSPN to marshall a 17-4 scoring run to lead 58-57 at the end of the third quarter, before winning 81-76.
Dane Miller led the scoring for the Oilers with 26 points. There were also immense contributions from the returning Robinson Opong (16), Parrish Petty (16), and Germaine Roebuck (12).
Wednesday saw the Oilers line up against Zimbabwe’s JBC, who came into this game with a sore loss to Beira.
Parrish Petty was in his efficient mood and finished with a game-high 29 points and seven rebounds.
Dane Miller collected 14 points, and Germaine Roebuck scored 12 points.
Tomorrow, the Oilers will compete against Mozambique’s Ferroviario da Beira for an assured spot in the semifinals.
The finalists and the bronze medalists are assured of qualification for the 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
