On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Rogers Nkugwa resigned as the head coach of FUFA Women Super League side Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.
Nkugwa’s resignation comes after just five games in charge of the team this season. He has cited personal reasons for his departure.
Nkugwa replaced Edward Ssozi Kasozi at the start of the 2023/24 season and has led the team to two wins, one draw, and two losses in his five matches in charge.
There were clear signs that Nkugwa was considering leaving the club yesterday when he allowed his assistant Rajab Buyinza to take control of the touchline during Uganda Martyrs’ 2-1 loss to She Maroons.
In his resignation letter, Nkugwa thanked his bosses for their trust and support. He also informed them that he is not taking his technical staff with him and that it is up to the club to decide on their future.
This is the fourth time that Nkugwa has left the club. Uganda Martyrs will now be under the interim leadership of coach Rajab Buyinza until an official replacement for Nkugwa is announced.
Uganda Martyrs will next host UCU Lady Cardinals in the league, where they will be hoping to get back to winning ways and start life without Nkugwa.
