Rounders Cricket Club slipped to the bottom of the Division One Premiership standings after suffering their seventh defeat of the season, a draining 103-run loss to Kutchi Tigers at Serenity Oval on Sunday.
After being put in to bat, the Tigers built a competitive total of 227/6 in 50 overs, thanks to a composed half-century from Hiren Kerai (55) and a steady unbeaten knock of 51 from Mitul Pindoriya.
The innings gained momentum in the middle overs, with Kishankumar Varsani (43) offering vital support.
Rounders’ bowling attack tried to hold the innings together with Tembo Zubair taking 3 wickets for 69 and Siraje Nsubuga conceding just 20 runs in 10 overs while claiming a wicket.
Despite the tight spells, Kutchi Tigers managed late acceleration to post a defendable total.
In response, Rounders’ batting collapsed under pressure, bundled out for 124 in just 29.1 overs.
Wickets fell at regular intervals, and none of the top or middle-order batters could anchor the innings. Siraje Nsubuga’s fighting 24 was the highest score in a disappointing chase.
Kutchi’s bowling unit delivered a clinical performance, led by Kush Mahesh Vekariya, who returned with impressive figures of 4/11. Ghanshyam Ashani also starred with 3/35, ripping through Rounders’ top order.
This comprehensive win keeps Kutchi Tigers up the standings in second while Rounders now find themselves in dire straits at the foot of the table.
