  • Aboojo 111/10 in 22.2 Overs (Brian Asaba 20, Mathew Musinguzi 5/35)
  • Rounders CC 112/7 in 31.2 Overs (Steven Wabwose 34, Calvin Watuwa 20)
  • Rounders CC won by 3 wickets

Rounders Cricket Club held their nerve to edge past Aboojo CC by three wickets in a tense, low-scoring match at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe.

The victory, Rounders’ fourth of the UCA Men’s 50 Over League Premiership lifts them to fifth place and, crucially, out of the relegation zone.

Fresh off a win against Tornado Bee, Rounders entered the clash with confidence. But Aboojo, also fighting to avoid the drop, started aggressively.

Openers Brian Asaba (20 off 16) and Ivan Thawithemwira (15 off 7) blasted 26 runs in the opening two overs. Baguma Joseph chipped in with a steady 31, but once he fell, Aboojo’s innings fell apart.

Rounders’ bowlers turned the screws. All six shared the wickets, with Siraje Nsubuga, Zubair Tembo, Brian Masaba, and Narinder Singh each taking two, as Aboojo slumped from 68 for 2 to 111 all out in just 22.2 overs.

The chase, however, was far from routine, Aboojo’s Mathew Musinguzi tore through the top order, grabbing five wickets to leave Rounders reeling at 46 for 6 inside 10 overs. Baguma added two more wickets, sparking hopes of an upset.

But Rounders’ veteran wicketkeeper Steven Wabwose stood firm. His unbeaten 34 off 62 balls, supported by Nsubuga’s patient 10 off 60, guided their side through a gritty 54-run stand.

Even after Nsubuga’s dismissal, Wabwose calmly saw it home, as Rounders reached 112 for 7 in 31.2 overs.

Wabwose was named Player of the Match for his steady hand under pressure in a game where bowlers dominated and runs were hard to come by.

With three games left, Rounders will look to build on this momentum. Aboojo, meanwhile, sit just one point above the relegation line and will need to respond quickly.

Elsewhere in the division One League, Kutchi Tigers stayed hot with back-to-back wins, thrashing Wanderers and beating JACC by 30 runs (D/L method). Ceylon Lions vs. Tornado Bee was abandoned due to rain.
