Impis and KCB KOBs flashy wingers Roy Kizito and Mark Osuna, respectively, are the newest names to suit up for the Rugby Cranes Sevens team.
The two lads have been part of the National 7s set up for the better of the last 16 months and will look to etch their names in Uganda Rugby Sevens folklore.
Philip Wokorach, Ian Munyani, Mubaraka Wandera and Denis Etwau are the four missing from the squad in Zimbabwe for the Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens in September.
They have been replaced by debutantes Roy Kizito and Mark Osuna, Buffaloes’ Aaron Tukei, and Jinja Hippos’s Timothy Mugisha.
Uganda rugby men’s sevens concluded their 2023 Africa 7s journey in third place after defeating, winning 24-12. They booked a ticket to the repêchage for a final chance to feature at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
The Safari 7s didn’t happen in 2022 due to lack of finances, lack of sponsors and poor planning, which consequently made the organisers unable to attract top talent participation, leading to the postponement of the event for only the third time since 1997.
