Rugby Africa 7s: Fans Lift The Cranes In Harare

The fans contingent that traveled to Zimbabwe has ended the weekend as the Most Valuable Persons for us.

In usual Ugandan fashion, the 23 fans were loud from the start, answering to the questions asked by Eddie Kiwanuka‘s Vuvuzela.

Uganda had a blemish on day 1, losing 35-05 to Zimbabwe, a very unfamiliar territory, but the fans stayed loud and pushed them on.

Day 2 was no different. Knackered by the festivities at the end of day 1 that went late, they were back in full voice for the game against Zambia. The players fed on this energy, and put away the Southern Africans.

The game against South Africa was always going to be tough but with ‘omuceere mu nyama,’ captain Ian Munyani asked the lads to push on, and match the noise at the stands.

At the end of the tournament, the players rewarded their fans with a sweet revenge victory against Zimbabwe and clinch 3rd place, and another chance with the repĂȘchage.

It almost looked like a section of Kyadondo from the 2022 Africa Men’s 7s was carried to Harare.

We’d like to thank the traveling fans for their sacrifice, and loudness. We heard you, and we’re sure the players felt your presence.
