The Uganda rugby lady Cranes 7s side were bronze medallists over the weekend after defeating Zambia 29-10 in the third-place playoff.
The Lady Cranes scored five tries while converting twice, thanks to Nassozi, Mufuwa, Amoli Lorna (2), and skipper Peace Lekuru.

Coach Charles Onen’s team had a new look for the finale, with Yvonne Najjuma, Maimuna Nassozi, and Rachael Mufuwa starting.

Still, it was without the nifty and sublime Grace Auma, who hurt her foot in the semi-final loss to Kenya.

Kenya defeated Uganda 27-00 in the semi-finals, avenging the 10-05 loss from 2022 and dumping the Ugandans from cup contention.
Owing to the third-place finish, Uganda qualifies for the repechage alongside Kenya to represent Africa, trying to punch their ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Uganda registered two wins and a loss on day 1 (22-00 win against Zimbabwe, 00-19 defeat against South Africa, 12-05 win against Tunisia) to earn a match against Kenya in the last 4.
Uganda will have the men’s and women’s teams compete at the Paris Olympics Repechage next year.
