The first day of the Rujumba 7s was not without shockers as the first Central circuit threw curve balls right from morning.
Table leaders and hosts Black Pirates suffered their first defeat of the National 7s calendar this year at the hands of a tough Buffaloes outfit with the latter securing a quarterfinals slot.
Buffaloes, had earlier on lost to junior Kyadondo side Stallions and needed a mammoth win against Pirates to remain in contention for the main cup.
Impis won’t be in the main cup in day two for the first time this year owing to two losses in group D at the hands of Heathens and Rams.
Heathens, KOBs and Hippos were the only teams to make it out the groups with a clean record.
In the Quarters, Pirates will come up against a resurgent Rams that took out Impis very early on Day 1.
KOBs will follow, playing a Rhinos side that is turning out to be everyone’s second favorite side.
The defending champions, Jinja Hippos, are set to play Entebbe side Mongers in the third quarterfinal of the main cup.
It will be a Kyadondo derby in the last quarterfinal as record champions Heathens square off with 2018 Rujumba 7s winners Buffaloes.

9:40am – KOBs vs Rhinos
