Despite an improved batting effort, Uganda fell short once again in their second match of the 2025 Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament, losing to hosts Rwanda by five wickets at the Gahanga B Oval on Thursday morning.

After a shaky opening in their previous match, Uganda entered the contest with renewed purpose, producing a more composed innings that saw them post 119/6 in their 20 overs.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi (44) anchored the innings with a steady knock, supported by Rita Musamali’s brisk 36 off 29.

Though Uganda’s middle order showed promise, Rwanda’s disciplined bowling unit, led by Henrietta Ishimwe (3/23), prevented the visitors from accelerating in the death overs.

Rwanda’s chase got off to a quick start with captain Marie Diane Bimenyimana leading from the front. Her confident 46 off 44 deliveries laid the foundation for the successful run chase.

Uganda’s bowlers struck intermittently. Stephanie Nampiina impressed with two wickets but it wasn’t enough to derail the hosts’ momentum.

Henrietta Ishimwe capped a fine all-round performance with an unbeaten 33, steering Rwanda to 120/5 in 18.4 overs.

This defeat marks Uganda’s second straight loss in the tournament, raising concerns ahead of their semifinal clash against Zimbabwe on Friday morning at the Gahanga Cricket Main Oval.
