In the 2023 Safari 7s, Uganda claimed bronze and Rugby Cranes finished third with Aaron Ofoyrwoth emerging as the tournament’s top points scorer.
But the momentum dipped in 2024 when an inexperienced “Emerging Cranes” side finished sixth.
The youthful team, however, gained valuable experience, four of them return stronger for the 2025 edition.

This year, Uganda is drawn in Pool B alongside Shogun, Nyati, and Kenya’s KCB Rugby, the reigning Kenya 7s champions.
National 7s winners Walukuba Barbarians form the core of the side.

Meanwhile, the Lady Rugby Cranes return looking to match or better their 2023 heroics when they lifted gold, Uganda’s best-ever finish at the Safari 7s.
Last year, the team fielded both senior and emerging sides, finishing 3rd and 5th respectively, showing growing depth and promise.
Without 2023 MVP and top scorer Peace Lekuru, now shining for York Valkyrie in the UK, leaves a leadership gap.
But with Agnes Nakuya leading the charge, the Lady Cranes remain confident of another strong run.

They open their 2025 campaign against Belgium, a familiar foe from the World Rugby Challenger Series before facing Tunisia and archrivals Kenya Lionesses.
