The Lady Rugby Cranes 7s opened their 2025 Safari 7s campaign with a spirited 12–10 comeback win over Belgium, showing determination and character after a nervy first half at Ngong Racecourse.

Uganda started brightly with strong runs from Lydia Namabiro and Yvonne Najjuma stretching Belgium’s defence.

Lady Rugby Cranes celebrating a try.

Captain Agnes Nakuya nearly broke through, powering within five meters of the try line before being stopped.

Belgium then turned defence into attack, scoring in the corner, and added another unconverted try before halftime to lead 10–0.

A rejuvenated Uganda came out firing in the second half.

Sandra Lona Amoli darted through the Belgian defence to score under the posts, with Grace Nabaggala converting to close the gap to 10–7.

Fazira Namukwaya’s introduction added more spark to the attack, and Belgium’s offside error reduced them to six players.

From the penalty, Uganda chose a scrum, worked the ball wide, and Amoli crossed again in the right corner to complete the comeback.

As the final hooter sounded, Amoli booted the ball into touch, sealing a memorable win and marking herself as Uganda’s hero of the day.

The Lady Cranes now turn their focus to Day 2, where they’ll face Tunisia and archrivals Kenya Lionesses in what promises to be a thrilling continuation of their Safari 7s campaign.
