Four braces were on the scoring chart as Makindye Ssabagabo Sand Lions registered a commanding 9-3 win over Mengo Hill in the Beach Soccer Super League.
Joel Isabega, Simon Kizito, Boniface Apamaku and Junior Kagezi were all at the double while senior player Yusuf Joloba added on a goal.
For Mengo Hill, Benon Ssenyandwa bagged a hat trick but it wasn’t enough as they were too down against the Sand Lions.
The game lost wasn’t the only task for Mengo Hill; in another game, they managed to overcome Grace Church with 8-6 in a close-contested clash.
Patrick Ssenyandwa and Patrick Ssendyabane were the stars in game control netting hat tricks with Benjamin Mukisa empowering them by adding on a brace.
On the losing side, Jonathan Muwanguzi and Joseph Kiddu netted braces while Moses Maganda and Jeremiah Kibirige had a goal to their names.
The games took place on 11th May 2025 at Bamboo Gardens Beach Soccer Arena in Kasanje and were part of the six fixtures that were on the menu.
Like Mengo Hill, Buganda Royal Institute was also on mixed fortunes as they lost a game and win one as they were facing Grace Church and Mutoola Beach Resort.
Against Grace Church l, Mengo-based Institute managed a 5-2 win with Joseph Ssendi scoring 4 times and Jonathan Dembe completing the count on high, Ben Owen and Jeremiah Kibirige consoled for Grace Church.
In another contest, Buganda Royal was beaten by Mutoola Beach Resort 6-4 despite the brilliance of Joseph Ssendi, who scored all four goals for the Royals, completing the day with 8 goals in two games.
Paul Nsenga, and Vintage Swaib Kakwaya scored two times each, Peter Mukwata and Oscar Ssendege completed the score sheet.
On the day, each team was supposed to have two games but Sand Lions and Mutoola Beach Resort had one due to the absence of Beach Soccer giant St Lawrence University.
Over the weekend, all teams that were in action added three points to their tally but stayed unmoved as Mutoola stayed second behind Mubs with one game ahead.
Sand Lions maintained fifth position after winning against Mengo Hill and Grace Church kept the boundary of the drop zone, with Grace Church sitting under the red line.
