The 2023 Africa Para-Badminton Championship came to an end at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Saturday, with Uganda winning 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals.

Sarah Nazziwa won two gold medals, one in the women’s singles and one in the women’s doubles.

She also reached the finals of the mixed doubles, but lost to Egypt’s Shaimaa Samy Abdellatif and Atef Adelkarim Mahmoud.

Hasan Mubiru, Elizebeth Mwesigwa, and Flavia Basuuta won silver medals in the men’s singles, women’s singles, and women’s doubles, respectively.

Mubiru and Ali Mukasa also won a silver medal in the men’s doubles.

Basuuta and Rose Nansereko won a bronze medal in the women’s doubles.

The other bronze medals were won by Brian Mugabe, Sumini Mutesi, and David Mukisa.

Uganda’s performance at this year’s championship was not as good as in previous years. In 2018, Uganda won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.

In 2022, Uganda won 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals.

The players attributed their lack of performance to a lack of training facilities and limited training time.

The Africa Para-Badminton Championship is an important event for para-badminton players, as it gives them the opportunity to collect points to improve their ranking ahead of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
