SC Villa have parted ways with Technical Director Moses Basena barely two months after his return to the Ugandan giants.
The club announced the decision on Saturday, September 20, in a letter signed by president Ahmed Omar Mandela.
“The management of SC Villa informs the club fans and public that Mr. Basena Moses, who has been acting as the club’s Technical Director, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Basena, a revered former Villa player and coach, was reappointed on July 21, 2025. His abrupt exit shocks many fans, especially with the team in good form and fresh off winning the FUFA Super 8 under new Serbian head coach Zeljko Kovacevic.
The club gave no reason for the dismissal, but speculation in local football circles links Basena to a possible Uganda Cranes assistant coaching role, a position currently held by veteran tactician Sam Ssimbwa.
The move recalls June’s shake-up when Villa dismissed head coach Morley Byekwaso, who soon after took charge of the Uganda Cranes CHAN team.
