FUFA Super 8
- KCCA FC 1-2 SC Villa
SC Villa began their 2025 FUFA Super 8 campaign in style, edging rivals KCCA FC 2-1 in the first-leg quarterfinal at the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Wednesday, handing new KCCA head coach Brian Ssenyondo a tough start to his tenure.
Ssenyondo, who joined KCCA in June after leaving Kitara FC, endured a frustrating debut as his side struggled to convert dominance into goals.
Villa took the lead in the 35th minute when defender Peter Magambo, pressured by Hassan Mubiru, deflected the ball into his own net.
KCCA pushed hard, introducing new signing Ivan Ahimbisibwe to bolster their attack, but Villa remained disciplined and struck again in the 82nd minute.
Substitute Andrew Otim, on the pitch for just seven minutes, finished off a quick counter to double the lead.
Sammy Ssebaduka pulled one back late for KCCA, but it wasn’t enough to salvage the result.
The victory puts SC Villa alongside URA FC, who beat Kitara FC 2-1 earlier in the day, among the first-leg winners.
The return legs will be played next month after the international break.
Tomorrow, Nakivubo Stadium hosts two fixtures, reigning champions BUL FC face Maroons FC, while Express FC battle NEC FC.
