SC Villa to Battle NEC in Uganda Premier League

SC Villa is aiming for their first win this season in the Uganda Premier League when they face NEC at Wankulukuku Stadium on Friday at 4:00pm.

The Jogoos drew 1-1 with Maroons in their previous match, but lost 2-1 to Kitara in their opening match.

What the SC Villa coach said

Coach Dustan Stojanovic is confident that his team has addressed their weaknesses and is now ready to take on NEC.

“We may not have had the smoothest start to the league, but our dedication to improvement is relentless, and we’re getting better with each passing minute,” he said.

“We’ve meticulously studied our next opponent, understanding their strengths and weaknesses, and we’re determined to put on a show that’ll bring joy to the entire Jogoo family.”

“NEC have kicked off the league impressively with two consecutive wins, setting the stage for a challenging match. Nevertheless, we have the confidence and readiness to face whatever comes our way.” he concluded.

SC Villa will be without forward Charles Lwanga, who is out with an ankle injury.

However, defender Edward Masembe returns to the squad, while left-back Joseph Kafumbe is in the final stages of recovery and may be available for selection.

What the NEC FC coach said

NEC is currently top of the table standings with six points and has not conceded a goal so far this season.

Their coach Hussein Mbalangu has cautioned his players to believe in themselves.

“SC Villa is a big team in Ugandan football so have have prepared for them,” he said.

“We want to have strong mentality if we are to get a result at Wankulukuku.”

Sc Villa players promise a fight

Midfielder Elvis Ngonde who has been one of the top players for Villa is confident that his team is ready for the battle.

“We’re amped up for the game against NEC; it’s the challenge that makes football thrilling,” he said.

“Our preparations have been intense. Coach Stojanovic is pushing us hard, honing strengths and fixing weaknesses.”

“We’ve dissected our opponent’s tactics for a game plan. Expect a winning mentality and some surprises on the field.”

In other matches on Friday, Gaddafi will play Kitara in an early kickoff in Jinja at 2:00pm, while UPDF hosts Wakiso Giants in Bombo, kickoff at 4:00pm.
