Elyon set the 2022/23 Men National Volleyball League Serie B record of winning four games on the bounce over the weekend at Nkumba University sports ground.
They opened the second round of the regular season with a 3-1 win against Ark before thrashing Magic, Bugema and A1 in straight sets.
It was a fireworks weekend for Elyon, securing 12 maximum points to climb from fourth position to the top of the table with 35 points.
Away from the team of the day, KU beat Cobap 3-0 (25:15, 25:23, 25:12) but dropped to the fourth position in the standings.
Still with the men’s action, Bugema registered a sweet 3-0 win (26:24, 25:16, 25:20) over Magic before suffering defeat to an unplayable Elyon side.
The last game on the menu in the men’s category had Prisons and Magic in action. This encounter witnessed four sets with Magic managing to win their lone set for the outing.
The close game had Prisons come out on top thanks to a 3-1 (25:17,19:25, 25:16, 25:22) victory hence retaining fifth position on the table.
BUGEMA DOMINATES WEEK 12 OF THE WOMEN’s LEAGUE
On the flip side, the derby contest between Bugema and Thunders was the game of the day in the Women’s League, which Bugema won 3-2 (25:12, 24:26, 25:20,19:25,15:10).
Both teams showed a lot of progress and fighting spirit during the encounter that had a decisive set to confirm the winner.
Bugema then easily defeated St. Charles 3-0 (25:19, 25:20, 25:07) to secure maximum points from the weekend outing.
Next, just like their male counterparts, KU ladies beat Cobap ladies in straight sets 3-0 (25:15, 25:23, 25:12) proving to be more powerful in both categories.
However in their other game, KU ladies went down 3-1 (28-26, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17) to UPDF ladies who used akin to military attacks on the campus students.
Lastly, the other derby on the cards had UCU defeat St. Charles in straight sets of 25:18, 25:18, and 25:14 to maintain second place in the standings behind UPDF.
