Uganda Cranes striker Muhammad Shaban has joined Ethiopian Coffee SC on a one-year deal, returning to club football after several months as a free agent. He was officially unveiled on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

Shaban has been without a team since leaving Libya’s Al Anwar in June, where he had played since February. His move follows a difficult spell that saw him linked to Kenya’s Gor Mahia, a deal that collapsed over financial issues.

Sources reveal Shaban was promised USD 30,000 upon signing with Al Anwar but received only USD 10,000, an experience he described as “a great lie.”

After leaving Libya, the forward tried to rejoin KCCA FC, one of his former clubs, but talks fell through, leading him to seek another opportunity abroad.

At Ethiopian Coffee, Shaban joins a familiar path taken by fellow Ugandan Geoffrey Wasswa, who also featured for the club before moving to Fasil Kenema.

The 25-year-old brings valuable experience from stints in Morocco, Libya, and Uganda, having previously played for Onduparaka FC, KCCA FC, and Vipers SC.
