Shamirah Nalugya, captain of the Crested Cranes and Kampala Queens, has completed a move to European side FC Minsk Women, marking a major milestone in her rising football career.

The 22-year-old midfielder signed a one-year deal with the Belarusian club after passing medicals on July 2. She becomes the first player to leave Kampala Queens in the current transfer window.

Nalugya’s move follows an outstanding 2024/25 season, where she led Kampala Queens to the FUFA Women Super League title. She finished as the club’s top scorer with nine goals and seven assists in 21 games and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

In her three years at the club, she won two league titles and established herself as one of Uganda’s top talents, known for her vision, composure, and leadership.

At FC Minsk, Nalugya joins a side preparing for the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2025/26 qualifiers. They will face either Glasgow City or Vienna in the semifinal on August 27.

Back in Uganda, Kampala Queens are already searching for her replacement as they prepare for the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in September.

Having also played for Isra Soccer Academy and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Nalugya now embarks on a new chapter that promises even greater exposure and growth on the continental stage.
