This event marks the Uganda Badminton Association’s (UBA) commitment to cultivating a strong badminton pipeline. Ronald Lule, UBA’s events coordinator, emphasizes the importance of these junior tournaments.

“We want to ensure we start building a new generation in badminton for continuity and fanbase expansion.” Lule revealed to Nnalubale Sports.

The impressive turnout surpasses previous UBA junior events, reflecting a surge in youth badminton participation. This growth is attributed to both the rising interest in the sport and increased media coverage.

Sharing Youth Centre Pledges Continued Support

Sharing Youth Centre Director, Father Berthrand Dakyie, is impressed by the talent on display. “Uganda has potential,” he declares.

“Through badminton, Uganda can earn Commonwealth and Olympic medals. We just need a little push.” The Centre is committed to providing ongoing support to these young athletes beyond just offering a venue.

Confidence Through Competition

Participating young players acknowledge the confidence boost gained from competing at a young age. These events offer valuable exposure to different playing styles and hone their skills.

The Sharing Youth Junior Badminton Tournament concludes on May 22nd, 2024.
