Uganda netball national team attacker Shadia Nassanga is confident that She Cranes will put up a fight at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.

Fresh from winning the Test Series against Wales, Uganda’s focus is now on the much more challenging Vitality Netball Nations Cup in England this week.

The Nations Cup will have heavyweights England, New Zealand, and Australia but according to Nassanga, Uganda is in a position of giving them a hard time.

“The Wales team gave us a good challenge in all the three games and prepared us well. We have learned a lot, and we are now used to the weather conditions,” Nassanga noted.

Head Coach Fred Mugerwa‘s charges lost the first game to Wales but fought back to win the last two and claim the Test Series victory over the weekend.

However, Mugerwa was not happy with the margins as Wales threatened She Cranes in all encounters in front of a buzzing home crowd.

“The goals margin should have been better but we made some mistakes and also some errors from the umpires are to blame. But, we are happy about the win.”

Mugwera also mentioned the urgent need for UK-based player, Hanisha Muhameed for goal protection as Uganda’s next three opponents have bigger and taller attackers.

“We lacked the size in defense but, with Hanisha in the team plus the aptitude from the Test Series, we are going to give the big guns a run for their money.”
