Netball Uganda has announced the final 14-player She Cranes squad that will compete at the 2025 Celtic Netball Cup, set for 26th–30th November at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

The announcement was made on Friday afternoon at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) offices in Lugogo, where officials, players, and media gathered for the big reveal.

Team manager Alice Alwenyi confirmed the final list, trimmed from an initial camp of 20 players.

The selection marks an important moment as Uganda prepares for its first appearance at the fast-growing tournament.

Netball Uganda president Jocelyn Ucanda, flanked by vice president (Technical) Richard Muhumuza, General Secretary Aminah Mande, Treasurer Yusuf Kamulegeya, and the players’ representative, praised the squad’s hard work and readiness.

“The team is in good shape,” Ucanda said.

“They’re ready to put up a serious challenge in Glasgow. They carry the country’s flag, and we expect their very best.”

Uganda views the Celtic Cup as an opportunity to boost its world ranking, with hopes of moving from 7th to 6th globally.

New captain Racheal Nanyonga, one of the most experienced shooters on the team, assured fans that the players are mentally and physically set for the tournament. She said the upcoming residential camp will help sharpen combinations and build even stronger chemistry.

“We are ready for the task ahead,” Nanyonga said.

“We know what this tournament means for Uganda, and we’re committed to delivering.”

Youngster Namukose Specioza is the only new addition to the team. Her standout performances during camp earned her a first-ever national call-up, signaling Uganda’s push to develop depth and future stars.

The She Cranes will depart on 23rd November aboard Qatar Airways, with head coach Rashid Mubiru and assistant coach Ruth Meeme leading the team.
