2025 Africa Netball Cup | Final
- Uganda 34-56 South Africa
Uganda’s She Cranes fell short in their bid to topple South Africa’s Spar Proteas, as the defending champions cruised to a commanding 56–34 victory on Sunday to retain the Africa Netball Cup title.
South Africa set the tone from the first whistle. Their tight defence and quick ball movement unsettled Uganda, who struggled to find rhythm and managed just seven goals in the opening quarter as the Proteas surged into a 15–7 lead.
Uganda’s problems deepened as South Africa effectively neutralised key shooter Shadia Nassanga.

With little space in the circle, Nassanga was substituted midway through the second quarter, but her replacement, Sera Zam, also found scoring hard to come by.
Further changes, including the introduction of Norah Lunkuse for Achola Lillian, failed to slow the Proteas’ momentum.
By halftime, South Africa were firmly in control at 27–16. Uganda laboured in attack, slowed by fatigue and hesitant ball movement, and the Proteas capitalised ruthlessly on turnovers.
Any hopes of a comeback faded in the third quarter as South Africa lifted the pace and stretched the lead to 43–26.
She Cranes struggled to match the physicality and composure of their opponents in what proved their most difficult match of the tournament.
South Africa closed out the final with ease, sealing a 22-goal win and successfully defending the title they won in Namibia last year.
For Uganda, it was another painful reminder of the gap that remains, following last year’s 65–50 defeat in the final.
As the Proteas celebrated another continental crown, the She Cranes were left to settle for silver once again.
