Hadijah Babirye netted the first goal to put Kawempe in the lead. Babirye saw her shot hit the bar but scored on the rebound.

Catherine Wujja scored the equalizer for the home team with a belter header off Jesca Namanda’s well delivered cross.

Midfielder Phionah Nabulime restored the lead for the visitors with a curling low shot from Agnes Nabukenya’s pass.

Before the break, after miscommunication in Rines’ defence, Agnes Nabukenya picked a loose ball and easily scored to stretch the lead for Kawempe Muslim.

In the second half, Rines kept on attacking to score goals and their efforts yieled as substitute Yasmeen Nalukwago scored the second goal with a header off Moureen Nankinga’s corner to bring back hope.

Late in the game Rines were awarded a penalty after Shakirah Nankwanga fouled Amina Nababi in forbidden area, but captain of the day Jesca Namanda missed the resulting penalty.

Kawempe held on to the final whistle to start the league with a hard fought win and their third consecutive league win over Rines SS WC.

She Makerere triumphant

Meanwhile, unpredictable She Makerere needed Noeline Namiro‘s second half goal to beat Wakiso Hill WFC.

In the game that had few goal scoring chances, it was in 59th minute when new signing Noeline Namiro’s shot found the back of the net to give the visitors the lead that turned to a match winner.

She Makerere goalkeeper Zahara Nankya was unmatched as she made a wonderful save to deny Wakiso Hill WFC a late equalizer.

In the next fixtures, Rines SS WFC will visit Uganda Martyrs on Saturday 21st October, Kawempe will welcome UCU Lady Cardinals, Makerere will host the defending champions Kampala Queens FC and Wakiso Hill WFC will visit She Maroons on Sunday 22nd October.
