After winning the 2022/23 FUFA Women Elite League title, She Maroons is back in top-flight football after one season. The Luzira-based side will visit Asubo Ladies FC on Sunday morning at Kampala Quality Ground.

Asubo Ladies FC survived relegation on the last day last season, but they have lost some big players in the offseason, including Fatumah Nakasumba and Zaitun Namaganda. They have also lost their head coach, Rogers Nkugwa.

However, the team has managed to keep Kamiyat Naigaga and has signed some big names like Esther Namataka and Desire Katisi Natooro to fill the gaps.

Under their new coach, Stephanie Kisakye, Asubo will mostly rely on new signing Esther Namataka and Kamiyat Naigaga to hunt for goals, while Katisi Natooro will be the key name to organize the team’s defense.

She Maroons, who were relegated from the super league in the 2021/22 season, bounced back and their head coach, Simon Peter Ocuka, is optimistic that they will stay in the league and finish in a convincing position.

“We are prepared, girls have been training well and now they’re ready to face our opponents and win the game,” Ocuka said.

“All players are available for selection including the new signings. I believe we’re going to stay in the league and also put intense competition.”
