Sheryl Botes Is The New Crested Cranes Head Coach

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations, have appointed Sheryl Botes as the new head coach for Uganda Senior Women Football National Team, the Crested Cranes.

The appointment took place at FUFA house in Mengo on Wednesday, and FUFA President Moses Magogo unveiled Botes on a three-year employment contract.

The FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo also confirmed that Botes will work with two backroom staff having a Goalkeeping and a Sports Scientist and some Ugandan coaches. Botes will also oversee the youth National Teams.

It has been a full year ever since Crested Cranes had a permanent head coach and that was in 2022 under George Lutalo who helped the team to win the maiden CECAFA Senior Women Championship and left the role after the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco.

The team have been under interim coaches that is, Ayub Khalifah and recently Charles Ayeikoh Lukula.

The South African Botes has previously served as the assistant coach of South Africa Women Senior National Team (Banyana Banyana), coached the South African U-20 Women’s National Team (Basetsana) and she holds CAF A, SAFA Pro, and serving as a CAF Instructor.

She’s also a legend and former player of Banyana Banyana.

Botes also served as the Head Coach of the SAFA Girls Soccer Academy at the High Performance Centre (HPC) in Pretoria.
