Uganda will be rallying behind two Bombers; Erinah Namutebi and Wasswa Ssali, who will be in action for the finals of their respective categories at the ongoing Africa Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships.

The Saturday, 3pm showdowns provide the only opportunity for the country to scoop gold at this year’s edition. Gold will come along with prize money of $15,000 (Shs. 55 million).

Namutebi takes on Algerian, Chahib Hichrax in the light welterweight category among the women.

Meanwhile, Ssali tussles it out with South Africa’s Sogwayi Sanele in Yaounde, Cameroon in the light weight category.

To reach the final, Namutebi, in her first bout at the tournament, beat Mozambique native Sandra Mulongo.

On the other hand, Ssali, who has already played and won three bouts beat Idris Kitangila at the semi-finals to make it to the final.

Ssali and Namutebi will add to five other relative triumphs achieved at the championship after Ronald Okello, Ukasha Matovu, Grace Nankinga, Solomon Geko and Emily Nakalema who each bagged a bronze medal, and $5,000 which is about 18 million Uganda shillings.
