Shree Sahajanand School Uganda kicked off the UCA Boys’ Schools Cricket Week in style, securing two big wins on the opening day, Sunday, August 24, at the Fort Portal venues.

They started with a nine-wicket demolition of Rwenzori High School before cruising past Good Heart Secondary School with a 123-run victory to stamp their authority early in the tournament.

Batting first against Good Heart, Shree Sahajanand posted 150 for 9 in 20 overs, thanks to a brisk 43 off 27 balls from Patel Devansh and 33 off 23 from Areeb Fiaz. Shlok Dalwadi’s quick 19 off 12 helped push the total to a strong finish.

Good Heart faltered in response, bowled out for just 27 runs in 14.1 overs. Shubh Nayee starred with 3 for 3, while Het Pindoriya and Divya Valani claimed two wickets each. Dalwadi added 2 for 4 to wrap up the emphatic win.

Elsewhere, there was plenty of action across Fort Portal’s six venues:

Group A: Jinja SSS hammered Rwenzori High School by 143 runs, while St John’s High School, Kauga, beat Gulu High School by 7 wickets. Gulu later bounced back to defeat Kira College Butiki by 5 wickets.

Group B: Busoga College Mwiri edged St Joseph College Layibi by 3 wickets, and Aga Khan High School defeated Masindi Secondary School by 18 runs.

The week-long championship continues at Nyakasura School, Canon Apollo Grounds, and St. Leo’s Kyegobe, as 17 teams battle for national glory in Fort Portal.
